We are pleased to report that the technology forming the basis of the figurative trademark search method and system developed by Ader Bilgisayar Hizmetleri ve Ticaret A.S. (Ader) with the technical cooperation of Yıldız Technical University, has been granted patent protection in South Africa, Japan and the USA.
As far as we know, this is the first technological development of its kind in our country having secured patent protection in the field of intellectual and industrial property rights, more particularly in respect of figurative trademark search.
The computer-implemented figurative trademark search method and system constitutes the subject matter of this patented technology, which was developed in line with the parameters and features determined and contributed by Deris Patents and Trademarks Agency A.S. and which is actively used by it since April 14, 2016.
The invention titled ‘CONTENT BASED SEARCH AND RETRIEVAL OF TRADEMARK IMAGES’ is registered in the name of Ader Bilgisayar Hizmetleri ve Ticaret A.S. (Ader) as a computer-implemented invention in the USA, Japan and South Africa.
The technology was developed to address the need for a computer implemented search system that scans automatically a great number of trademark images in a database and determines, in a very short time, the similarity between trademark images, features and colors with great accuracy. The patented computer-implemented invention relates to image recognition in general, and in particular to a content-based search and retrieval of trademark images.
The patented invention facilitates the search for images similar to the query trademark image by searching among the trademark images recorded in the database, thus shortening the duration of the search, thereby increasing the efficiency and the standardization of the figurative trademark search process.
Considering the technological development achieved with this invention, Ader has filed an international patent application on April 14, 2016 with the publication number WO 2017/180072 under the Patent Cooperation Treaty through Deriş Patents and Trademarks Agency A.Ş, designating Australia, South Africa, the USA, Turkey, Korea, Japan, India, EPC, China, Hong Kong and Canada. The invention being already patented in USA, Japan and South Africa, Deris Patents and Trademarks Agency A.S. continues the prosecution of the pending patent applications in the remaining countries.
